LION KING PROGRAM

Color copies are expensive and can cause a major drain on funds that can be used for other educational purposes. Therefore the programs passed out in tonight's show are in black and white. As a result some of the pictures may be a bit harder to see (especially the picture of Mr. Yancey in the Musical Production Staff picture).

For a full-color version of tonight's program, click here. Feel free to download it and take the file to your nearest Staples/Office Max/Office Depot and print your own full-color copy of the program to enjoy for years to come.

HEY PARENTS...Snack Sign Up

Before we start rehearsing, we'd like to feed our cast a snack. For some students lunchtime happened around 10:30am and rehearsals won't end until 4pm. That's a long time with no food. Help us keep our Lion King cast from becoming a "hangry" stampede by bringing in snacks. We have a cast of about 65 students. Each day there are two slots available so sign up with another parent and the two of you can coordinate who's bringing what.

2018 Spring Musical CAST LIST -- click here

Thank you to everyone who took the time to audition. We would have loved to place all of you in this year’s show but unfortunately our stage is not big enough. If your name is not on the list, please take time to stop by and see Mr. Yancey for an explanation and for ways to improve your auditioning skills. If your name is on the list, you MUST stop by Mr. Velarde’s classroom no later than Wednesday to accept your role. If you do not stop by to accept, your role will be given to someone else.

Call Backs: CLICK HERE FOR THE LIST

For those on the call backs list, be prepared to stay after school tomorrow  for cold reads and singing. Here's what you will need to do:
For those chosen for the part of SCAR:
The role of Scar requires a mature performer who can bring out this villain's dark side while handling his sarcastic sense of humor. His solos can be sung or spoken so be sure to demonstrate strong  acting choices. You will need to sing "Be Prepared."

For those chosen for the part of YOUNG NALA:
Young Nala is a courageous lion and Young Simba's best friend. She is not afraid to speak her mind. While Young Nala does sing a little, this role  requires a strong female performer who can portray this confident cub. You will need to sing "I Just Can't Wait to be King" (only sing the Young Nala parts -- begin at measure 36).

For those chosen for SHENZI
Shenzi is the sassy Hyena. Shenzi should be able to laugh loudly and long with Banzai and Ed as well as be menacing to Young Simba and Young Nala. There is no song that you need to sing for the call back. Just be sure to make strong, convincing acting choices.
For those chosen for ED
Ed has a loud cackling laugh that is his only form of communication. Ed will be played by someone who can laugh unabashedly and communicate through physicality and facial expressions rather than words. There is no song that you need to sing for the call back. Just be sure to make strong, convincing and funny acting choices.
Remember, these are CALL BACKS. They are intended to be a bit stressful with a lot of new things thrown at you. Relax and do your best. You do not need to sing your song from memory. You will be permitted to use sheet music while you sing if you need it. Your cold read will be given to you at the call back. Be sure to report to the chorus room (3108) at 2:15 for warm ups and prep. Make sure that your parents know to pick you up at 4pm. Do your best!
