Week 4 • 09/19 - 09/23

What are we working on?

Here we are in week 4 of the school year. Already we have talked about solfege, notes on the staff, and simple sight-singing. This week we will continue with sight-singing

Also we will continue working on repertoire for our Fall concert on Thursday, Oct. 27th. One piece that all chorus students will need to be familiar with is "Rise" by Katy Perry. We will be singing an arrangement based on the Superfruit version of this song. Click the YouTube video  to take a listen.

Congratulations to all of the students who auditioned to represent Martin in the 2016 NC Middle School Honors Chorus Auditions. It was an extremely difficult job choosing the 24 students that will represent Martin because we are fortunate enough to have SO many super talented students.

What's due this week?

• Sight Singing Assessment 1
  • You will choose 1 piece of music to learn. You will record a video of you singing the piece first on solfege and then on words with solfeging hands. Here are your options (click the title to access the music) :
    • All Through the Night
    • Little Green Frog
    • Boom Boom Ain't It Great to Be Crazy
    • It's Raining It's Pouing
    • Michael Finnegan
  • Upload that video to Google drive (use your WCPSS Google access or you may need to have a parent create a gmail account for you)
  • Share that video with 
  • [email protected]. (if you aren't sure how to share a video using Google drive, click the YouTube video to the right).
• If you and your parents did not sign up for Remind  (text 81010 with the course code @wmnsnsmbl) be sure to get that done this week. This is worth a quiz grade.
